Over the years, the church evolved from Ebenezer Chapel to the present-day Renforth Baptist Church. The newly-built Renforth Baptist Church (March 1958) We want to be a thriving community of Christ-followers who love God deeply, serve others passionately, and win our neighbourhood to faith in Jesus Christ. We are committed to reaching out to our neighbourhood with the love of the Triune-God who offers hope for the future, eternal life starting now, and Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. In rural Etobicoke, with a population of only 84, Ann Elizabeth Mercer, a widowed mother of three, starts a Sunday school in her home. This small gathering eventually forms the foundation for the Ebenezer congregation. Ebenezer Chapel is built on Burnhamthorpe Rd. and is led by Pastor James Brooks for about 40 years. The church temporarily closes during the Great Depression but is revived by McMaster divinity student Edward Dreisinger. The church becomes a vibrant community church as Etobicoke continues to urbanize. As Etobicoke urbanizes, the church becomes a community hub, and on May 15, 1955, it officially changes its name to **Renforth Baptist Church**. The church constructs a new facility (the current building), which is dedicated in March 1958. Renforth experiences continued growth and engagement within the community. Reflecting on over 180 years of God's faithfulness, Renforth Church embraces its future with excitement and hope, Seeking opportunities to demonstrate deep care and compassion for each other as family. Over time, maturing in faith that God knows best, every day becoming more like Jesus, and having a deeper understanding of Scripture. Engaging in ministry heartily according to our individual talents and spiritual gifts in the church. Giving the Triune-God our reverence and adoration as a way of life. Connecting lovingly with our community and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Our worship services are God-centered and joyful. We come together to sing, pray, and celebrate with heartfelt praise and sincere worship to God. At Renforth Baptist Church, we offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere where you can come as you are. You'll feel right at home whether in casual attire or your Sunday best. You will hear powerful Bible-based sermons that inspire you to hope in God, live life to the fullest, and trust in the purposes of God.
